    - Ambitious strategy that really focussed on people with dementia - Ambitious fundraising teams always striving to bring about change and make a difference - lots of activities to get involved in as a Community fundraiser i.e. cupcake day, events, running, legacies - fundraising roles are advertised flexibly so this increases opportunities for progression - I found CEO very inspiring and really listened to employees on...

    - Managers recruited because their face fits rather than on own merit - its who you know not what you know - Senior manager within my team was a bully and had various complaints from staff to HR and others in organisation but nothing actioned quickly enough and they weren't monitored or even observed - Quite a jump in targets every year which made some areas of this unachievable and demotivating

    - Don't ignore staff concerns - some staff have left due to feeling undervalued and under appreciated within the regional teams - a lot is put on regional teams as often they are the only fundraising staff based outside of head office so this can be tricky to manage - if its a 'one team ethos' make sure it works both ways. - introduce a proper development plan for staff as some managers are inexperienced in offering...

    I made a handful of very good friends. There’s a nice private room in head office where you can go and cry after a terrible day at work.

    Minpunten

    Toxic culture within the fundraising department and very high turnover of staff. Little deveoplement or promotion opportunities unless you are one of the “chosen ones”. Senior management pay lip service to junior members of the team but complaints are never dealt with by HR. Very irresponsible expenses within Regional Fundraising with is a stark juxtaposition with the massive cut in local services

    Please listen to your staff as you are loosing very good talent. There needs to be change from the top down and a total refresh of the management team.

    Familiarise yourself with the benefits of staff wellbeing and flexible working. Businesses actually save thousands each year by recognising individual needs and having the ability to be flexible. A lot of inflexibility when it comes to staff returning from maternity leave- ie: full time or nothing! It feels uncaring and unprofessional, one particular senior manager has handled multiple situations terribly,sex discrimination...

    Making a difference at a local level

    Autocratic. A culture of blame and fear. You’re ok if your face fits. Arrogance. Lost touch with reality.

    Good leadership at a senior level requires active listening and empathy. Walk the walk not just talk the talk. It’s easy to tick boxes. Show some humility, integrity and understanding . A culture of blame, fear and mistrust is not healthy. Ask why we are losing valued employees and volunteers and why our rates of absence relating to stress at work are higher than they have ever been.

    Senior management SO cliquey. Regardless of talent people whose face fits are promoted especially in fundraising. Waste income on out of control expenses. Good people have left because of mismanagement
