The interview process was explained in the first email: 1. Introductory interview 2. HackerRank test 3a. Technical interview 1 3b. Technical interview 2 4a. Adyen Formula Fit interview 4b. Board interview So I did the 1 and it went pretty well, There were 2 software engineers and the questions are mostly about yourself. After a day or so, the recruiter gave me the Hackerrank assessment. I believe time was the main problem, and you should do good time management.

Applied through online and had email invitation for a video call with the recruitment team - asked questions about past projects, what if you had conflict with the lead - why Adyen As I was in the video I can see that inteviewer is not interested to know about my self and was rude in certain instances. - Did not even try to understand my full technical abilities - May be just wanted to show that they did interviews with a certain number of candidates to impress the management. - One of the worst experiences I had in my career - Did not even bother to share the interview feedback

After got contacted about the first steps, this is was the process: - 30-mins first screening: an interview with two developers, to check you and know about your background. - 3:10-hours Codility technical interview: 1 Java Puzzle, 1 Java Stream puzzle, 1 bug fix, and 1 SQL query creation. - 1-hour meeting: after finished the tech test, they asked to have this second technical interview where they asked me about what I did in the technical test, they asked some questions related to you last projects what of them you really are proud of and they go deep into it with some questions. Tech tests: SQL - Joining question. Java Stream - Aggregator structure with some corner cases. Java Puzzle - K nails hammered into the same block of wood. Bug Fix - Recursively problem with N and K as input but was decreasing K in 1 every time and this is the problem. I got more than 75% score in the tech test, I solved the bug-fix (something that they said that almost nobody pass), I got 100% in SQL question but not got a good score in the Streams puzzle. I didn't advanced because I don't have SQL skills enough, as they said. For a Java role? You can see that you have some toxic environment.

It was consisted from different tasks: sql task, java streams, algorithmic task, and task like find mistakes in the block of code and fix. About 3 hours for all. I didn’t finish all tasks. I received an email with a feedback, the sql task was done perfect but other task not. So, I didn’t go further.

This interview was mainly for Java Engineer. I appeared in 3 rounds of it. Description of which is given below. Overall it was good interview. Make sure you do the homework. Read about company and it's culture. 1st round: one to one with HR regarding qualification, experience and skill set. And what is Adyen all about. 2nd round: Codility coding round. It was 3 hrs online coding test. They restricted the language to Java because my application was for Java engineer. Here, there were 4 questions:- 1. Problem Solving Question:- It was an array question. 2. Sql query:- This query involved cases joins and nested queries. 3. Bug Fixing:- A problem statement was given. And a method for the same was also given. This method was containing few errors and our task here was to find out those errors and fix it. Here, they restricted the code changes to only 2 lines - meaning I was not allowed to change more than 2 lines for this program. This was very tricky. But was a medium level code. 4. Program using Java Streams:- A problem statement was given with all the class and interfaces associated with it. I was asked add a particular feature to that program with Java streams. 3rd round - Codility Review code – Discuss all 4 questions – what was your approach 1. What is integration test? 2. Which version of unit tests do you use? 3. How can you provide security while saving passwords in database 4. How can you check Performance of a query? 5. Discuss about one of the tool upon which I worked upon? Remarks:- In 1st and 2nd codility Question, - they said mind blowing approach 3rd question - bug fixing - they asked for my approach and then showed me that there was one test case that I missed to test. My Code Changes were taking care of all the test cases except one. They showed me the correct answer and then said I agree that this was tough one to guess. For 4th codility Question - They said seeing the code seems like you got very less time for this. I said yes. And then asked me to explain the approach. I explained few things in that but not very properly as I was unable to recall it fully.

First scheduled an interview with 2 engineers. Non-technical questions about your and their background, why me applying to Adyen etc. That interview went well and they send me a code assignment through Codility. Questions was not much difficult. After completing code assignments we arranged a new interview with two developers to evaluate my case and discuss my technical experience. The interview was overall good, we went through my answers and talked about solutions, discussed one uncovered case on my solution, they asked me some technical questions etc. One of the interviewers was so cold during whole interview and even did not answer my questions when they wanted me ask some. Later I got an email from HR saying my interview was not good and they could not get a clear understanding about what interests me in Adyen and she is happy to answer my questions if I would like any specific feedback about my application or interviews. I asked about some details like what they mean by my interview being bad, is my codility answers were not good, is my technical skills are not enough etc but of course they never respond back. What I get from all of that process is that they are not looking to your skills etc but only a good reason to work there.
