Disorganized. You may get several interviews from different departments but they won’t communicate that. Interviews on webex. Some will ask for video. Others won’t. Some are all behavioral. Others are behavioral and technical.

There were two sets of interviews. The first one gets you a score that helps determine if you will be selected for the second interview. The second interview had a couple of technical questions as well.

The interview was fairly standard and I was asked basic interview questions as well. It was over the phone with 2 interviewers on the line. They also informed me it had only one opening for their certain branch.

Applied in November 2022, started receiving calls from some departments at LADWP in middle January 2023. Each interview varies with each department where it can be done at LADWP at DTLA (30-40min), through Webex (30min), or through a phone interview (10-15min). Limited time and you will not have time to ask them questions. You will be interviewed by 2-4 managers & senior engineers and be asked 5-8 questions. Questions are mainly behavioral/situational, but some basic technical questions can be asked depending on the department you interview with. I had one department show me a simple circuit to calculate current. For this year at least, if you don't get a call within 1-2 weeks after your interview, you were dropped, but some departments have the courtesy to let you know in a week. Not sure many interns they hire, but one group only hired 1.

Interview was straightforward with 2 LADWP employees. They asked questions and wrote down the responses. Three technical questions and an assortment of other behavioral questions. Notes were written by hand and there was a time slot, so you could not talk a lot.

Chill. Technical and behavior. Study PE and you will be fine. Be prepared to answer hydraulics, structural. There are two interviewers and they will be reading scripted interview questions. If you are prepared, you are fine.

Time allotted was 30 mins. Two LADWP employees will read questions off a sheet to you. There were about 8 or 9 questions they asked me. Around 2/3 were behavioral and 1/3 were technical. I think if you have good communication skills, this will be a breeze. I was way too nervous (mainly because this was my first engineering interview) so I know I didn't perform too well. Behavioral questions can be harder than you think so do your research and know how to answer them. (Btw you can find most of their questions on Quizlet lol) The first interview will be used to determine if you make it to the second round. It can take months before you receive your first interview score. I was given my score about 3 months later, and haven't heard any news about making it to the second interview yet.

Interviewed for an opening in one of their geotechnical teams. I was given an hour to answer a mix of behavioral and technical questions posed by two PM's in the section. After that, there was a written examination where I had 45 minutes to review a design scenario and provide my recommendations in a memorandum format.
