two rounds: first talked with a recruiter then with a senior software engineer from the hiring team(maybe?). Overall pretty typical interview process. Did interactive coding for two LC questions, medium level but I think they expect you to finish quickly
- coding: serialize and deserialize tree

Initially ignored the recruiter on LinkedIn while I was on vacation. Reconnected a few months later when I saw roles still open. Phone screen with recruiter to talk about the two jobs and initial fit. Recruiter had me create a sampler deck of my work to pitch to managers internally. Video chat a week later with one director for one of the jobs. Pretty generic questions and hasty portfolio review. The were definitely looking for someone specific and had a bunch of boilerplate prepared. Quickly got a no from that team and set up time for the other open position. A week later had back to back 45 min video interviews. One focusing on app critique and discussion of an app you and the interviewer both had downloaded. Second interview was a portfolio review with someone on the team. Pretty straight forward design stuff. Good discussion on both calls. Connected as well as we could have in 45 mins on a video call. It is 3 weeks now since the last interview and haven’t heard anything back yet. Recruiter went from 24-48 hour turn around on replies to completely ghosting me. Not even a generic, automated email. Absolutely unacceptable by any standards. Shame on you Oculus for your awful hiring practices.
- Name one of your strengths and weaknesses. (Yes they actually asked me this.)

Had 3 phone interviews with HR, engineer and then hiring manager. The conversation with HR and engineer were great. But the one with hiring manager was awful. He was very rude and interrupted me several times during the 45min phone call. No respect at all. He also doesn't understand anything technical terms I was referring to. All he cared about was some fancy concepts which was completely useless in engineering world. People should try to avoid working for such a bad manager.
- What are you going to do when you have disagreement with your coworks???

Five months of phone interviews prior to an onsite for a design leadership role, thus all phone interviews were conducted either with executive recruiters or group lead/mgt across several groups throughout Facebook AI, Oculus VR in Mountain View and Seattle. • All phone interviews went great, clearly - they kept it going for almost half a year. • In-person onsite lasted only 3.5/4hrs. Began with me presenting to three males, one was PM, two were product designers/Unity devs and the 4th person was my candidate-handler. • PM jumped in about half-way through my opening presentation – wanted to see my 'graphics.' (This wasn't an IC graphics/design role. This was for executive product leadership.) Handler suggested we start the 1:1's. • Each of the two 1:1 design tests went great. One of the guys exclaimed, "Oh wow, no one has come up with these ideas before!" Both seemed to be having a good time , as was I. I've been designing products/experiences for 15+ years so this is completely my wheelhouse. • Time for 1:1 with PM. Seemed agitated. Wasn't into it, apparently. He's a manager, not a product-contributor. Couldn't really grasp what a director of UX does, even in AR/VR., despite my many examples both visual, animated and textual – from working in AR/VR, no less. End result: GHOSTED. No comms of any kind, after five months of executive recruiting phone interviews and an onsite. After some research, apparently this is the norm across all of FAANG.
- PM to me, after 5 months of phone interviews: "Where are your graphics? Show me the graphics!" – this for a executive product lead/director-level role.
- Design Test: Redesign the TV remote.

Applied to a different position, but a recruiter contacted me for this role. Initial phone call with a recruiter( discussed my general background and she gave an overview of the product, team etc) and then a technical phone interview. Did not get a call for onsite interview.

Ik heb via een uitzendbureau gesolliciteerd. De procedure duurde 3 dagen. Ik heb gesolliciteerd bij Oculus VR
Recruiter briefly screened me, and then gave me a two-day turnaround between submitting my resume, approving it, and scheduling the interview. I was accepted for interviewing on a Tuesday, and interviewed on a Thursday. I arrived to my appointment 20 minutes early and checked in. At my appointment time, I was seen be the hiring manager who told me: "I didn't know we had an appointment. The position you're interviewing for was filled days ago." I confirmed all the details by bringing up my email, and it was indeed his contact information set for an interview at that time on that day. He said "sorry" and walked out of the lobby, where I would remain for 1.5 hours on the phone with the recruiter who was convincing me to stay, despite security eyeballing me as I grew more impatient. After more than an hour and a half of being in the lobby, the HM returned and offered a "pity" interview where we spoke about the position. I was obviously a good fit, he said, but there was no room in the organization. I was shown the door, and left.
- I was asked about details on my resume, since the HM had never seen it.

- mostly technical questions about current work

HR contacts me for briefing the job for 15 minutes. Then a research scientist initialed an conference interview for one hour. Finally, an onsite interview happened after 3 weeks.
- A lot of technical questions to make sure you have strong knowledge about your domain skill.

I had three great conversations with two different people. I enjoyed each conversation more than the last. My POC was very clear and responsive and sent good feedback when they ultimately went in another direction. The interviews were both on the phone and in person.
- Why are you the best person for the job?

Typical interview process - 1 Phone screen - 6 On-site interviews (3 technical, 1 system design, 1 behavioural, 1 lunch interview) - 1 Demo Overall, it was a great experience. Only catch is that the interviews are 45 minutes. This didnt leave time for me to ask questions at all. The lunch interview was with the hiring manager though so I was able to ask some questions then. Overall, looked like there was a solid plan and everyone was happy working there. After the interview, got a callback after 2 days saying they wanted to extend an offer and we negotiated. We were able to agree on a good number and she was able to get the offer in a few days. I asked to call the hiring manager and a person on the team so that I could actually ask them questions. Recruiter setup both calls and was able to get all my questions answered. Ultimately ended up saying no because I wanted to pursue a different opportunity but the benifits, compensation, people etc were all very nice! Highly recommend the experience. Side note: I saw some comments talk about how recruiters are slow to respond but I didnt see this at all. Maybe this issue is now fixed. The recruiters were really responsive and great!
- Pretty much leetcode questions. Some questions more tailored to my background. Be sure to know the skills you have in your resume.
