Ik heb online gesolliciteerd. De procedure duurde 5 weken. Ik heb gesolliciteerd bij The Pokémon Company International in sep. 2022

Sollicitatiegesprek

The interview process started with an initial application via online portal. This was followed within a few days by a scheduled call with a recruiter and a technical screening with a 3rd party company, Experis.

After not being sure about sharing, I've decided that I want to share my awful experience with The Pokémon Company International. They were exceptionally unprofessional, and I'm annoyed at myself for not seeing the red flags earlier. Firstly, I received an email from a 'D.R.' - a senior Talent acquisition partner - that stated: "Thank you for your interest in a career at The Pokémon Company International! Your resume was brought to our attention for our Archivist position. With your interest, I'd like to schedule a 30-minute introductory call to learn more about your professional background, and for you to learn more about the opportunity to see if this is a great match for you...Looking forward to hearing back from you!" So far, so positive. Yet, I should have been a bit more realistic considering the semi-automated nature of the email. However, I was asked to schedule my availability for a 30-minute screening call. This was a simple process of noting my dates in a calendar. After doing this, I received a confirmation email of my screening call time and date complete with a benefits summary and more information about the company. I spend the remaining time before my call doing my interviewing preparation. I felt really good about this incoming call. I felt prepared and, most importantly, I am properly qualified for the role. Here comes the kicker...90 minutes before our scheduled call I received an email from the Pokémon recruiter D.R. that stated: "Thanks for your application but I only do phone screen from my phone to US based numbers. Sorry the system didn’t catch that. This role is a US based role so unfortunately there is no option for international relocation. Etc." I was absolutely dumbstruck. How spectacularly unprofessional is it to send this type of email to a candidate less than two hours before a scheduled call!? "Etc." Even as I type this, I still can't quite believe it. After reaching out again to D.R. I have heard nothing. I note that many of the entries in Glassdoor talk about being ghosted by the company. I am just another name added to that list. The advert did not state that relocation was impossible, or even make reference to where they would like candidates to be previously located. I was well aware that the role was based in the USA, rather than the UK. Indeed, that relocation and career progression was one of the attractive parts of the role. In summary, I was ghosted by the company's senior recruitment team after an 'error' on behalf of their systems. This incident has left me feeling like the company is endemically unprofessional. I would suggest potential candidates avoid this company; and it hurts to say that. Apologies for the significant length of this review!

Ik heb via een werknemersdoorverwijzing gesolliciteerd. De procedure duurde 2 maanden. Ik heb gesolliciteerd bij The Pokémon Company International in aug. 2022

Sollicitatiegesprek

The interview process itself took about 2 months. First call was a 30 minute screen with my recruiter. Then came a 30 minute interview with the hiring manager. The final interview was with a group of 5 people (manager included) over the course of 2 days. Lots of the questions they asked were situational questions and typical STAR Method questions. About two weeks later, I got a call from my recruiter with an offer from TPCi! They really loved my relationship building skills and my knowledge of the TCG. Overall, I had a very positive experience. Not only was I offered a role, the recruiters were so responsive and helpful. I really got the sense they were advocating for me and had my best interests at heart. I'm very excited to begin collaborating with some of the folks I interviewed with and work with my direct manager.

Sollicitatiegesprek

Really disjointed and disorganized. Moving schedules, delays in communications and long blocks of time to answer redundant questions. Was told by my potential manager that he “didn’t have any questions to ask me” after they talked to me 2 previous times and me taking time out of the middle of my work day to interview. I felt totally disrespected in the interview process. I answered technical questions accurately and promptly but was eventually told (through a 3rd party recruiter) that they wanted someone “more technical” even though I had been through 3 rounds of interviews with them. 3rd party recruiter was baffled and actually apologized to me for wasting my time as it was really unclear what they were looking for. For a big company, the interview process was really amateur hour and embarrassingly bad.

Firstly, it took forever to get in touch with a recruiter since the previous one ghosted, and then there was another one who finally reached out to schedule a phone screen. After the phone screen, there was a skills assessment with a third party, which was a bizarre experience. I emailed the third party and noone responded for a week, then someone finally called and the assessment was scheduled. Basic questions were asked, but I had to repeat my answers multiple times since the interviewer wasn't able to catch my answers. The interview was recorded and sent to the Pokemon Portal, but the interviewer was still taking notes, even though the interview wasn't going to be assessed by her. In the end I didn't pass, but nevertheless a not so pleasant experience.

I only made it to round 2. 1) First, I got a phone interview with a recruiter. She was pleasant and asked me about my background. Asked me as simple SQL question (see below). After about 4-5 business days, she scheduled another 2) In the 2nd round, which was supposed to be a more technical with the hiring manager, was just full of issues with the questions. a)The questions that she asked were not grammatically correct and could have used a good proofread. Some of the sentences were also missing words and were kind of vague, so I had to just assume I knew what she was talking about. b) The SQL questions that she asked me were extremely basic questions. I don't remember exactly what they were, but she had two tables and you had to answer some simple questions on the data. If you know how to use an ORDER BY and how JOINS work, you should be good to go. They were the type of questions you might see if you apply for a data related internship or first year position. I was really surprised because the position asks for 5-7 years of experience. c) She tried to tell me one of my SQL queries were wrong because I needed an ORDER BY clause, but she was wrong. I've been writing SQL queries for about 8, almost 9 years. I know what I'm doing. I didn't correct her because I didn't want to be seen as combative. d) She didn't even review any of the SQL I wrote with me. If she would have, this is where I could have really shined with my almost 9 years of experience because I would have gone into detail about good practices that influenced why I wrote my code the way I did. 3) She didn't even ask me some questions about non SQL skills needed for the position. a) I didn't get any questions on ETL processes, which I was disappointed in because that's what I really shine at. I have 7 years of experience with this. b) I didn't get any questions about Python, which I've been working with for about 4 years now. c) In order to build an ETL process, you have to have some knowledge of database design, she didn't ask me any questions on this. d) When working with ETL, you also have to have knowledge about speed and performance, I got not one question about this. e) The job description mentioned Tableau or similar tools, I haven't worked with Tableau since 2020. This was evident on my resume. All data visualization tool concepts are the same. I've worked with numerous ones. She didn't ask me about any design concepts, just Tableau specific questions. I'm not mad at the hiring manager, she's trying to build a department from the ground up, but this is definitely not a senior level position, based on the questions I got asked. I also think she needs more experience conducting an interview, especially a technical one. This is more like a junior, MAYBE a mid-level position, definitely not a senior level position based on the questions I got asked.

  • 1) Round 1 question: a) What is the difference between a "WHERE" SQL clause and a "HAVING" SQL clause? 2) Round 2 question: a) What is the difference between a parameter and a filter? b) I don't remember exactly what was asked but make sure you have a solid understanding of Tableau. The description says any tool, but it sounds like they are specifically looking for Tableau given the questions I was asked.

Tried to have several calls with a recruiter, but she was not responsive and finally ghosted me: 1st encounter: Had a phone screening setup, she never called on the phone number I provided. I setup another call. 2nd encounter: She never called at the number I provided, completely ghosted me. Pokemon, remember that your recruiters are your first contact with talent across the board. Pokemon, you missed an opportunity to hire a top tier talent.

Sollicitatiegesprek

The interview process was very long. I started my interview process with a recruiter, who collected my salary requirements, my background, etc. and passed me along to the hiring manager. About a week later, I interviewed with the hiring manager. It was a really good, 30 minute, interview. The hiring manager wanted me to interview with his team. About two weeks later, I had almost 4 hours worth of interviews with different members of the team. Each interview was in a 30 minute slot, via Zoom. They each asked thoughtful questions and all went well. From there, I had another interview with the hiring manager, a couple of weeks later. They wanted to offer me a job, but they needed me to connect with the recruiter again, to discuss salary. After two months of interviewing, I had my call with the recruiter, who told me that my salary was outside of the range that they would pay for that position. I was crushed to hear those words after investing the time and energy I did into doing hours of interviews over two months.

HR sounded like a bot reading a script. Zero people skills whatsoever such a shame for a company that makes awesome games to have a bot be your first point of contact for potential hires.

Everything went smoothly and was offered position until discussion of salary. Asked if it was possible for Salary to be abit higher but was still within their offered rangeand stated i was alright with the initial offered as well, but just would like to inquiry for a slightly higher pay due to past experience, told me they will get back to me and took almost a week before they got back with a rejection. Their rejection message was weird as they stated it was "unfair" they couldnt offer my inquired salary and just straight up revoked the initial offer. The hiring team took forever to respond my question even though i stated i was alright with the initial offer. Dont waste your time with them. (They take days to respond)
