Don't waste your time to give interview in this company. Their process starts with as usual online codility coding test then they take too much time to schedule the interview. My interview was scheduled after 2 weeks of online test. Since I had scored 100% in online coding round so they asked me to solve the same question here. Note: if you are a good coder then either you don't apply for this company or don't score 100% otherwise they will ask you to solve the question and give you their dumb approach and will ask why didn't you think in this way. They had already assumed that I have copied the code from internet. Code ran successfully but interviewer didn't agreed with my approach. Honestly that guy had no idea of coding. Then they started asking me that common spring and Java interview questions and was expecting the same answer that he was seeing in his screen. Probably he was asking questions from Java2blog. My suggestion for the company is please send some good guy for interview otherwise these kind of people will never select a good resource because they were good at nothing.

The entire procedure from application to decision took two months. It consisted of a few phone calls and emails with different recruiters, a 2h codility online coding assessment, a 1h tech interview (again in with codility), another 2h tech interview (you guessed it: codility) and a 1h soft skills interview. In total, they asked me to solve 7 codility challenges. Doing the tech interviews in codility, rather than on a whiteboard can be quite challenging, as you only have the code editor as your tool. This means you can not draw diagrams and other things that might be helpful in solving the problem. I had mixed experiences with my interviewees during the two tech sessions. One was very professional, understood my thought process and knew exactly what cues to give to navigate me to a final solution: quite a lot of fun! The other one was inexperienced always asking seemingly unhelpful questions, leading to increased stress, discomfort and situations where everything was stuck.

  • The tech part was mix of general coding c++ challenges that you would find on codility or hackerrank, but also some that were designed my TomTom. Topics ranged from path finding to smart pointer implementations, search algorithms and tasks that require binary operations. Overall, not too easy but also not impossible to solve. The soft skills part was basically all standard interview questions that you would find after a quick google search about challenges you had to solve, situations when you took ownership, conflicts, etc.

The process consisted of a total of 6 rounds 1: Basic screening: Online test, which consisted of MCQs and coding questions. 2: After clearing the first round, they shared a problem statement that I had to complete within two days and upload the solution to GIT. 3: This was a technical discussion in which they discussed the low-level design for the solution of the problem statement. Multiple questions related to core Java. 4: Post clearing the first technical discussion, the second technical discussion was scheduled. In this discussion, there were multiple questions over Java, spring, spring boot, deep dive over core java concepts. There were scenario-based questions related to system design. 5: This was a techno-managerial round. It was short and straightforward. I was asked about my expectations and my career aspiration. 6: HR round

I had my first technical interview of approximately 1 h, which went well, so they called me for the second technical interview. At this point I asked what is the entire interview process since I did not want to invest a lot of time (i.e., it is OK for Google and Amazon to have a lot of tests and interviews, but it is not OK for a smaller company such as TomTom to have the same requirements, especially since they cannot offer the same salary, but please note that this is only my humble opinion). They told me that they usually make an offer after the second technical interview, please note the word usually since I missed it when I was interpreting their answer. Hence, I had the second technical interview of approximately 3 h, which went well and resulted in them calling me for an onsite interview to meet each other in person. So, no offer yet. Anyhow, since they told me that this is supposed to be a get together type of an interview and since it seemed that the offer is within my reach, I went for the third and final interview (i.e., the onsite interview). To my surprise, the onsite interview turned out to be the third technical interview, but since I was there already, I took it. After the interview, they were not able to come up with an offer for over than two weeks, so at this point I decided to withdraw my application. Overall, I found them to be unprofessional and dishonest.

To be followed by an online time-limited coding exercise. Then I had an interview with two project leads who asked technical questions. It was overall an excellent experience.
