Hi, as a Google employee, I’ve created an interview prep guide that got many people into Google, based on my and my friends' interview experiences. You can find it here: (please do not forget to check the reviews on that page to read my customers' comments). Good luck! Minder

My interview started nearly 15 minutes late and the hiring manager did not have a copy of my resume. Also, the interview had a hard stop at 40 minutes and while I was being walked to the door, I received only dead silence when I mentioned I had additional questions. So, I never got the sense I was considered a serious candidate. Anyway, based on some questions I asked the hiring manager (when it was my turn), I got back a few responses that raised some red flags. In particular, he seemed to get defensive when I asked him to describe the culture of his department - he emphasized the workload was very high but that it was just a reality I'd have to accept since the mandate was to run lean (read understaffed). Although this is typical at most companies today, I didn't get the sense the role had much support in terms of prioritizing work and (where necessary) pushing back on unrealistic requests. Separately, the manager mentioned he often presses outside research vendors to do extra work they are not crazy about, but "this is why I pay them." So, the phrase "top-down management" came to mind. All that said, the biggest issue I had was a request I subsequently received from the hiring manager to do a "homework" assignment involving an analysis of emerging payment technologies, and what their projected impact would be on Hasbro's business. My analysis would then be compared to those of the other candidates, ostensibly as part of the interview process. Even though I knew this to be an ethically questionable request, I played along and delivered my analysis to him by deadline. I never received any feedback, despite his assurance that he would get back to me. I only learned later after asking the recruiter about my status that the manager decided to hire another candidate. While I still believe Hasbro is a good place to work, this experience was most certainly a poor reflection on the company. Minder

1. What's your background? 2. What' your experience with data management? Give work examples 3. What else do you want to tell me about yourself that you think makes you stands out? (basically what about you is not in your resume?) Bonus question (when I wasn't answering the way the interviewer wanted) - 2. What's your experience in particular to research and survey data? Case Question - A tracking study is being conducted and your Data Scientist (DS) wants to analyze the data to understand the meaningful difference in data from country to country and over time. We are also interested in knowing the cultural impact of the movie. Here are some details about what the team wants to know : - We are analyzing people who watch the same movie title - We want to track how they connect with characters in the movie - We want to track movie enjoyment - How would you ask the DS to analyze this data?

I'll only answer the case portion - Asked for more information to which I got those 3 bullets i added to my question. I then mentioned 3 metrics I'd track: Watch time Like/dislike of video Attrition (did people stop and not return?) I'd measure the differences between countries and where they are low, I'd dive into a time series analysis and understand across time, how those low metrics may have come to be (could attrition have started out low then became high as people watched the show more?). I'd then group those countries by region (i mistakenly said by region, but that doesn't make sense. I should have grouped it by similarity in my results and then brought in culture similarity in my analysis through research and done a correlation; but interview jitters...) Netflix has open feedback culture. Utilize it. Ask the recruiter and the interviewer how you did it . They will tell you exactly. They may not tell you if you will move forward though. My feedback was - "There was a gap in the fundamental experience with research as a discipline and no mention of cultural differences based on the research" Minder
