Meet Olivia! Whether she is spiking a volleyball over the net or racing others in cross country, 17-year-old Olivia enjoys an active lifestyle with intensity, grit and heart. 👟🏐🎓 She recently graduated as valedictorian of her high school class and is starting her college journey at Texas Tech University this fall, but the road there hasn’t always been smooth. After a routine scoliosis screening in fifth grade revealed the curvature in her spine, she was referred to Scottish Rite for Children. Physician assistant Jessica Landson, evaluated Olivia and diagnosed her with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Through regular visits with her care team and wearing a brace made just for her, Olivia has managed her scoliosis with strength and resilience. “Because of my care team and the brace, I was able to keep doing the sports I love,” says Olivia. Now, she is starting a new chapter of her life and looking ahead to a brace-free active lifestyle with possibility. “The people at Scottish Rite are amazing,” Olivia says. “They truly want to help you and will do everything they can to make your situation better. It’s the place that gave me the confidence and strength to move forward without fear.” We can’t wait to see where the future takes you, Olivia! ❤️🙌 Read more about her story here: bit.ly/43ZLDDg

Advancing pediatric orthopedic care begins with a commitment to research and education. Scottish Rite for Children sports medicine surgeons recently took part in a collaborative pediatric dissection, arthroscopy and research program — bringing together surgeons and students to study knee anatomy and refine surgical techniques. Drs. Ellis and Wilson were joined by medical student research fellow Keinan Agonias and UT Southwestern Orthopaedic Surgery student Hayes Martin, reinforcing our investment in hands-on learning that shapes the future of pediatric orthopedics.
