I have given interview for iTero- Intraoral 3D scanners. The product seems really nice and I am sure there are good people in Align, but sadly I face one of the worse interviewer ever. That person had spent his entire life in China and moved to regional role only in 2020, so I already have more experience then him in regional marketing 10 years Vs his 5 years. As soon as he started interview, I got really tense and negative vibes from him- he started asking extremely detailed questions which I answered patiently- however he keeps interrupting while I am trying to give him answer, he was extremely impolite in the way he asked question, as they felt like he is doubting every word that came out of my mouth. The interview started to felt like a police interrogation and in the end- I just lost it. I asked him that the position is open for more then 1 year and in last 5 years I have seen he same position been posted time and again, which proves many people have came and left and no one is able to put up with you- so how do you define your leadership style? and he said, that is irrelevant to the interview, he has very high standards and expectations- so I told him, it goes both ways, I don't care if you don't hire me- but your approach is extremely negative and this is not the way. I myself am global head managing 5 team members, I would not have reached here if I am not good. screwing people and making them feel uncomfortable is not the right wa, infact you will repel every good candidate like me. then he abruptly cut it and said, anyway thanks for coming. This is the issue with Align- when people talk about wrong management, they only care to focus on results- zero human connection, zero soft skills,...we are humans...not AI... he is definitely not going to find anyone who will tolerate him. unless Align, change him with someone NON-CHINESE...they will continue to suffer as he seems to never get out of his China market mindset.
