Shockingly toxic top management – bringing the organisation beyond the point of repair. Founding partners of EIT Digital used the organisation to clean up their own cemeteries of elephants and push non-performing executives into top positions. In the following years the founding partners used EIT Digital to fund their own research and development projects, without measurable returns on investments. Effectively, they drained public, European budgets while being profitable companies themselves, a scandal on its own. Top management has never been able (both in terms of capabilities and proximity to founding partners) to deliver on mission. Lot of window dressing to hide underperformance. In ten years, EIT Digital spent close to one billion Euro. The claim of a positive return on investment (of 700%) is a myth that can be cleanly debunked by one knowledgeable investment company looking into the activity.
