Electronics designers who want everything to be optimal about their project can turn to the tools of Optimal Corp. The company provides design software for integrated circuits, semiconductor packages, and printed circuit boards, involving signal integrity, power delivery, high-frequency, and thermal/mechanical characteristics of the electronic products. Optimal was established in 1995 and spent several years in "stealth mode" before actively marketing its software. The company has offices in Japan, Taiwan, and the US. Co-founder and CTO An-Yu Kuo is a leading shareholder. Optimal agreed to be acquired by rival Apache Design Solutions in 2007.
