    Pluspunten

-I'm getting the support I needed from my branch.
-You only work 29.5 hours a week.
-They have lessons plans available but you'll have to tailor it based on your classes.

    Minpunten

-They put teachers on expensive apartments.
-They add a certain fee in your apartment rent.
-They don't pay for school breaks. Which means you get a pro-rated salary. August and March (50%); January and April (75%)

    Pluspunten

helps you with your basic needs as you arrive in Japan

    Minpunten

salary isn't enough to live with if you have more than the basic needs to pay for

    Advies aan management

be more detailed when informing about the living expenses

    Negatief vooruitzicht

    Pluspunten

It’s an easy, surefire way to get a work visa for Japan. Basically if you’re near-native and you have a pulse and aren’t creepy, you can get hired at Interac.

    Minpunten

Super low pay, which only gets worse as you stay longer because your taxes go up. They don’t pay into your pension or health insurance so it’s obly best to stay for a year or two and then move on to something better.

    Advies aan management

They don’t really care about the actual employees and only care about their schools, so I think that’s something that definitely needs to change.

Great support from my branch and BOE

Great schools, amazing students. I guess it depends on the schools. Others have bad experiences but mine was great.

    Minpunten

Prorated salaries on March, April, August and December

Ik heb een voltijdbaan gehad bij Interac (Langer dan een jaar)

    Pluspunten

    - Working with children
    - Some awesome colleagues
    - Unlike many, I think the training was good. They just needed more of them.

    Minpunten

    - Office staff could be rude
    - It really depends on your schedule. Mine was overwhelming, and completely unmanageable. Others I worked with had actual part-time hours. All the schools in an area don't seem to be evenly distributed, with some working crazy schedules and others having very few. You won't know until just before you arrive what your schedule will look like.
    - Very little feedback and professional development.

    Pluspunten

I went out for a year, wasn’t concerned about having too much money. Was supported very well by the company

    Minpunten

Felt a little lost during Christmas,
My most difficult time. Didn’t receive a lot of support working with teachers. However they were always there to talk to, provided all materials I needed and my
    School was very nice

    Pluspunten

    They hire anyone... Literally anyone.

    Minpunten

    - Low pay
The pay is super low, and is actually getting LOWER with the release of new contracts. The new contract stops those half pay months but overall you’re getting paid much less. The low pay will hurt you even more in the second year when you have to pay TAX, HEALTH INSURANCE and PENSION. Interac will play down how bad these will decimate your pay. It will destroy you. At the end when you take away bills and rent youll be lucky to have 100,000 to last you.

You will NEED a second job.
Because of the low pay a second job is essential in order to make ends meet. so much for "take back your weekends".

They will throw you under the bus.
The client is king. The client is the school and the BOEs, not you. As long as there are silly foreigners lining up to be abused by this company nothing will change. As quickly as someone quits someone is there to take their place.

    Everything is last minute.
They will tell you days or even hours in advance about an event which you are now suddenly contractually obligated to go to or even lead. Once at said event, what you were told by the company might be completely contradicted by the school.

    Housing
Time is not spend in looking for your housing. They place you in whatever they can find "around" the area your working. They are not thinking about "size" or "rent price" or location to the station.

If your school is terrible. meh...
If you get placed in bad schools, and as a first year ALT you most probably will be as 2nd and 3rd years flee from those schools, the higher ups will not help you. There are some cool managers who will listen to your problems but really nothing will changed. The changes will last as long as the manager or BOE member of staff is viewing the school, the next day is back to business as always.

No benefits no bonuses no pay rises
In Japan it is NORMAL for a company to increase your pay yearly as you re-contract with the company. Interac does not do this. Yearly bonuses are also a thing that companies dish out every year to all staff. Interac does not do this, for ALTs anyway.

Please, dont work here. There are MANY other companies in Japan which you can work for with zero Japanese. Please do research! If by some chance you do still work for interac because of its easy access to Japan please. please

ONE YEAR ONLY! In that year do your best to study Japanese and dont re-contract! Find a better company, dont get too attached to your schools. Its a trap. Move on to better jobs! There is no real upward path in this company.

    Advies aan management

Please stop treating your ALTs so badly. Pay them better, give them benefits, do something. Stop being so horrid.

People complain about JET but at least the pay is very good and INCREASES every year.

    Pluspunten

No work on evenings/weekends. Freedom to pursue other work on the side.

    Minpunten

Interac doesn't give pay raises and basically sees their employees as expendable.
