Pluspunten
Very positive, dynamic, proud company. Top brass are very optimistic and enthusiastic. Has a library of online resources to help you develop your career and is more than willing to help you work harder and better.
Minpunten
The enthusiasm of the top management doesn't translate well down at the implementation side. The skills, experience and ideas of top management never make it down to the shop floor through the various layers. It leaves people quite disillusioned. Encourages a lot of extra self-learning to progress your career, even if you don't want to. A lot of pressure on deadlines. A lot of backstabbing as people try to protect themselves. Management don't seem to understand when the people just below are clouding the real reasons why issues have occurred.
Advies aan management
More training for the middle management in leading teams positively. More examination on why deadlines are missed instead of looking to blame.
Anonymous surveys on employee satisfaction, and more emphasis on team cohesion rather than fault finding.
A happy team that stands together will work harder for each other.

Pluspunten
Opportunity to learn, people within certain positions are friendly enough to give advice
Minpunten
Management will overwork and take advantage of hard-working employees by creating an atmosphere where you're never working "hard enough"

Pluspunten
Great initial training provided to employees
Everyone that works in the company is friendly and kind
Minpunten
Difficult to develop within the company

Pluspunten
The people in my office are all awesome, friendly, helpful people. They are knowledgeable and I've learned a lot from them. The VP of our Department is a fair leader and empowers you to make a lot of tech decisions.
Minpunten
It's basically helping big companies market, so not the most passionate mission. But the work is still interesting.
Advies aan management
Keep up the good work, a little faster decision making would be helpful. Sometimes we can be left in limbo and it would be good to know what's going on.

Pluspunten
—From what I understand, Merkle pays better than most agencies.
—Has a very entrepreneurial spirit at times although the mentality of corporate (headquartered in Maryland) is making it just that: corporate. So often doesn't have that agency vibe.
—Can offer clients wide range of services.
Minpunten
—Be prepared to have no work/life balance. Kiss your pets and kids goodbye.
—Teams are understaffed and therefore overworked.
—VPs on the account side can be unreasonable (see above). Some shouldn't be managing people. I'm not saying they're not talented at what they do, but often these very bright leaders are not the best to oversee staff. While I did not experience such behavior, I saw first-hand how poorly some staff were unfairly treated. (Think lawsuit)
—Often feels as though you service Merkle internal teams (finance, legal, etc.) more than actual clients.
—Corporate seems preoccupied with reorganizations (and the mind numbing flow charts that follow) while losing sight of more important issues (unhappy clients)—until it was too late to resolve problems.
Advies aan management
—Less "fiddle while Rome burns"
—Hire more staff. Just because your huge salaries, bonuses and other perks justify having to work insane hours, the lower level employees (director-level and below) deserve more help. This is one reason it's hard for them to retain good employees.
—The Chicago office seems less happy than other satellite offices around the US and abroad. They definitely get worked the hardest.
