Working at this company has been an overall negative experience.
The organisation has an extremely outdated view of technology and software development. Large parts of the business lack even basic technical understanding and openly take pride in “not being technical”.
The work environment is highly toxic. This culture is driven by the management team and consistently trickles down across departments.
There is a clear lack of mutual respect: people regularly raise their voices and openly shout at one another during meetings.
Career development is actively discouraged. I was personally told not to build knowledge in a specific area because I “didn’t have enough time”, despite having the capacity and motivation to do so.
The bar for achievement is extremely low, and accountability is minimal.
Management quality is poor. During a performance review, my manager—who frequently skipped 1:1 meetings without notice—opened the session by saying, “These aren’t really my thing.” If you are unwilling or unable to manage people or provide feedback, you should not be in a management role.
On multiple occasions, colleagues openly stated they were “just here to retire.” This mindset appears widespread and is reflected in the overall work ethic and lack of ambition throughout the company.
Early on, I asked about the employee referral program and the financial incentive for referring a friend. This was met with the response, “It’s impolite to ask that.” In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t recommend anyone to apply, but it should be possible to ask a legitimate question about a formal referral program without being shut down. This response reflects a broader culture of discouraging open, transparent conversation.
