Minpunten
The company culture was marked by a pronounced lack of trust, which was evident in the heavy reliance on time-tracking tools. While these tools might have a place in certain contexts, their overuse created a climate of suspicion rather than fostering a collaborative and productive atmosphere. This, coupled with a micromanagement-heavy management style, often led to a stifling work environment where employees felt closely monitored rather than empowered. Frequent and unpredictable changes to company policies, including work hours, annual leaves, and work models, created significant instability and hindered long-term planning. This constant flux contributed to a sense of uncertainty and dissatisfaction among employees. Furthermore, opportunities for professional growth were limited. Despite proposing improvements to testing procedures, the necessary tools and support were absent. A more receptive attitude towards employee-driven initiatives would have been beneficial. Effective communication was also a challenge. Indirect messaging often made it difficult to understand expectations, leading to misunderstandings and unnecessary stress. Additionally, a culture of recognition for accomplishments was notably absent, which can be a significant demotivator. The role of the product manager in the development process was unclear, as there was a lack of documentation. This resulted in shifting priorities and created conflicts within the team. Moreover, the QC team was burdened with responsibilities typically belonging to product managers or tech leaders, impacting overall team performance. A clearer delineation of roles and responsibilities would alleviate this strain. While there were undoubtedly some positive aspects to my experience, these issues significantly impacted my overall job satisfaction and productivity.
