      Encountered many patients with varying diseases and injuries. Always an opportunity to learn.

      Minpunten

      Horrible pay rate, unmanageable call volume. Long hours, often being held over for more than 40 hours during a single shift. Dispatchers were regarded as supervisors and were poorly trained with no understanding of medical practice or terminology. Management couldn't be bothered to help solve problems. Highly dysfunctional staff. Ambulances were falling apart.

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Minpunten

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pluspunten

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Minpunten

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
