Pluspunten

1) Great hours: The hours are great. You can choose to work up to 44 hours a week, but this is usually not the case as the call center does not often have a demand for interviewers. You can expect to work 4-5 hours per weekday, and 5.5 hours on Saturdays, and 7.5 hours on Sundays. 2) Great working conditions: You sit in a cubicle, and there is no physical labor involved. Good for elderly folk looking to supplement their income. You get paid a bonus if you complete more surveys than the target (usually very rare, even for the most charming people). You'll get minimum wage, but you can get by putting in minimum effort. 3) Supportive supervisors: The supervisors here are not expecting you to meet some insane targets, and there is no real pressure. Don't take advantage of this, as your log-in time (time spent working) is closely monitored, and if you try to take unethical breaks, you are warned. In my experience, the supervisors are very cordial and friendly people who will try to help you with work-related concerns. 4) Location convenience: It is very accessible, as it is only a 3 minute walk from the St. George subway station. 5) Friendly workers: If you are a sociable person, you can probably meet some great people here. If you are not, that is no problem, as there is no 'teamwork' aspect involved. You can show up, do your work, and then leave without fraternizing with any of your co-workers. Most of them are part-time, so there is no 'office politics' or rumors or any bad things associated with normal offices.

Minpunten

1) Repetitive nature of work: Probably the worst part of this job. You will say the same paragraphs countless times. Sticking to scripts verbatim is really important, even though it is pointless and illogical. People on the other line will go off about something unrelated, while all you want to get as many surveys done as possible. 2) The hours: The hours can be re-scheduled or cancelled at any time. There is a 'Cancellation Hotline', but I've called in on 20 different occasions and have yet to talk to a person. 3) Low pay/low prestige/dead end job: The pay is minimum wage. You won't impress anyone with this job, you won't wow future job interviewers, and you won't rise up the ranks into a C-level executive position. If you're young, don't do this job full-time. Do it part-time, and go to college for something better. 4) Rude/insane respondents: People out there are mean, old/senile, angry at you, and worst of all, dismissive. Being hung up on is infuriating at first, because you try to sound motivated and upbeat, and you don't even get a response. I suppose this con is actually a pro, as it trains you not to take rejection personally, and improves your customer service skills. You also learn how to respond to customer refusals (I'm not interested, I'm too busy, etc), which might be applicable to sales positions.
