Minpunten
1) Was told by ATS management that we would be trained for the specific plant machinery when we went into a plant for a new ATS maintenance contract start-up. We never were. We only had access to the generic ATS online safety training programs. Anyone can view similar programs online for free. ... (2) ATS hired many replacement plant maintenance employees whose skills did not match the industry we were in. Example: one shift with eight maintenance workers had no one who could operate a welding machine or cutting torch. This was absurd and caused excessive downtime to the plant we worked in. ... (3) We sat through the multiple safety orientation meetings prior to our beginning work in the plant. We heard all about the ATS safety commitment. HOWEVER, when we began work in the plant, we did not have sufficient safety gear to legally comply with Lockout/Tagout ... Confined Space Entry ... and Arc-Flash Safety. We complained about this for FIVE MONTHS. Some maintenance workers did not receive their fall-arrest harnesses and lanyards through this same time period. We eventually got what we needed, but ATS professes to follow all safety laws, which is a lie. They do what is convenient, and on a time frame that allows their budget numbers to remain where they want them. I would call this FRAUD, which it is. I left after one year. I have worked in maintenance for over twenty years, and it was disgusting to have been lied to like this. I left after one year.
