Working as a Senior HR Adviser at Adviser Plus was one of the most frustrating experiences of my career. You’re tied to an advice line and constantly getting back to back calls. There’s not much opportunity for getting involved in actual Employee Relations and instead feel like you work in a call centre. Senior leadership made the decision to remove the co-ordination function, which instantly piled extra pressure onto already stretched teams. Service Level Agreements are constantly breached because unrealistic, unreachable targets have been set by people who have never used the advice line or the Empower system, and have no understanding of the job so make agreements that aren’t realistic. For months, we’ve been told that change is coming, yet nothing has improved. Recruitment is non-existent, retention is worse, and even long-standing clients are now walking away and not renewing their contracts. The workload is unsustainable, morale is at an all time low and there’s no sign of improvement. My advice to anyone still there: get out while you can — and to anyone considering joining, think twice.
