Regarding your characterization of my company being a scam, as the owner of this company, I respectfully have to offer up the facts. We are not a MLM or a pyramid scheme, as you suggest. In such a business, participants would be required to purchase a product and would be required to recruit individuals to make more money. They would also make money off of the individuals they recruited. I need to state officially for the record that neither are practices that my business engages in. We are proud to represent the largest energy retailer in the United States, and I can assure you that a corporation of their magnitude would have zero tolerance for illegal or shady business practices. Most importantly, I believe in integrity and honesty above ALL ELSE, so the type of business practices you describe would be against my character. Pyramid schemes—also referred to as franchise fraud or chain referral schemes—are marketing and investment frauds in which an individual is offered a distributorship or franchise to market a particular product. The real profit is earned, not by the sale of the product, but by the sale of new distributorships. We have never, in almost 6 years, asked a single person to invest money into our company.
