The core values to which we all aim to heed and promote are nothing more than a letterhead when it comes to performing to the advertised values, where management are concerned. A culture of bullying from management is prevalent. Shouting, desk thumping, and emotional cruelty are rife. At a time of a downturn in the industry, dirty tactics are used to encourage staff to leave, to reduce the impending staff layoffs. Workload is increased well beyond that which can be achieved within the 37.5 hour week, whilst payment for overtime is refused although it is in your contract. The man management is weak and an indication that it was not so long ago that Norway missed out on the industrial revolution, and all of the lessons learned thereafter. Your contract of employment will state one location as your place of work, but it will likely be a different location. You will be limited to the 37.5 hour week, but meetings which you must attend, will be set for 8am through 95% of the day until after 5pm. You will be expected to work for free after the 37.5 hours, into the early hours at your home. No Exceptions! If you disagree with the American management style, you will be on a slippery slope out of the door. Do not expect the Norwegian management to support you. This is a flat structure, where only the bullies speak out, and therefore they reign supreme. Nobody records or cares how many hours over the 37.5 hours you have worked. There is no measurement, no record, no cost, no accountability.
