Good if you’re just starting off possibly graduating from a tech school like I did. You will get some good experience and not have to worry about being over your head with work.
Minpunten
This is a better job for someone just coming out of high school and still living at home or paying very little rent. No matter what position you have here you will not make enough money to live on your own on average I’ve noticed people who come in untrained will make about $12 an hour and if you have some prior training, possibly $13 even starting off on CNC machines you’re lucky to be getting $14-15. You will not be able to retire comfortably here, the pension starts after 10 years and only equals out to be a one time payout upon retirement of $1,000 per year you’ve worked there. There are no sick days, personal days, etc. only vacation days of which you accumulate how long a vacation you can take each year based on how long you’ve worked there for instance, after one (fiscal) year you get one week vacation after three years you get two week vacation and after ten years you get a three week vacation. The vacation days do not carry over to the next year if not used instead you are just payed out for the days you didn’t use throughout the year. Management does nothing about the shop being a mess with tooling and scrap parts lying around different areas of the shop building up for well over 30 years. In total the shop itself will most likely not last and In a few years and will shut down we’re much slower that we use to be because we only make very specialized parts that are rarely even used in CT let alone the U.S. and management has no ambition or want to expand.
