Absolutely no respect for workers- all are expendable. No one at Alro cares about their employees, they are all expendable. There is a steady flow of 'red hats’ or temp workers who after a few months can apply for a regular position and fill the people who have quit. So, they have no desire to right the massive flaws in their work environment. Management will swear at employees, give them little notice before mandatory overtime. They flourish in an environment of secrets and lies and employees never truly know what is going on. They will stick together no matter what the issue, even if it means fabricating full lies to cover their stories. If you try and stand up to them or even think about mentioning a union, you may as well put in your unemployment application. They will find any excuse to make your life more miserable at work. They moved people to areas they could not physically work in order to push them into quitting. Supervisors talked inappropriately about workers to each other specifically calling out certain ones by name. There is no professional etiquette here, especially in management. Everyone is from out of state and is being paid a lot of money and extras (such as housing costs) to work at branches out of state and so they know their job is safe and they can behave however they please because no one will care. Point system attendance policy is a joke. Start with 10 points- lose 2 points for sick days if you call in more than 90 minutes before shift (and these are sick days you EARNED). Lose 4 points if less than that. You lose two points if you call in more than 30 minutes if you are going to be late and 4 if less than that. When you reach 5 points you are suspended for one day and when you reach zero you are fired. Heaven forbid you try and use your vacation days too, if even one person in your department is gone they will deny it. They will give you the OK and then later deny it to you. Workers had to show their proof that they were given the time off in order to get their vacation time because they were later denied it. More supervisors than needed-not enough workers. 1st shift had two shift supervisors, 4 warehouse supervisors, a warehouse manager, a general manager and a regional manager-not to mention area leaders. Every area of the branch I worked in had about 3-8 people working it with 6 main areas. There were about 25 people on first shift with 9 managers of some kind. It was ridiculous. Every warehouse manager has the same title and does almost the same job but there are four of them.
