Pluspunten
I enjoyed the work I was doing at BMC, work was often a fun and healthy challenge and I felt like I was getting things accomplished.
Minpunten
The hiring process is deceptive as BMC promises to work with you in your first 6 months to make sure you know all of their products, in reality all learning is self driven and, if you ask questions about how to interact with or customize the product your manager will assume that you don't know your job and haven't been studying. Management (most of middle and senior) are disengaged from the product and sales process. For the most part, Presales managers do not participate in Presales activities. Some managers do not even know the names of their product line nor do they know how to explain the product that their people sell to an embarrassing degree. An example of this: in 2022 CEO Ayman Sayed could not name a single product that the company sells during a skit for Sales Kick Off. Managers do not participate in your day to day and rely only on feedback from the sales team to determine your value. Positive feedback nets you more work, negative feedback results in your manager withholding work without explanation or path forward. Do not expect to work with your Manager to improve your standing as the rumor mill determines your success or failure, so being popular with the sales people and/or friends with management is the only way to succeed. Management threatens layoffs every few months as a way to keep employees in line (BMC is flush with cash). Management style is 100% fear based and the only people who succeed in this company are friends of management/yes men. During my time there I never received a performance review as my manager did not have any metrics to measure us by other than what the sales team said about us. BMC does not invest in their products properly nor is there true support for their products - this company pushes out half baked solutions that will only work for the uniformed customer. SDLC is nonexistent past release because BMC does not budget for product reconciliation and/or improvement. BMC thinks it is nipping at ServiceNow's heels but in reality they are a struggling to maintain second place.
