Pluspunten
Some managers are diamonds in the rough. They stick up for their teams and try their best to do right by them. Unfortunately the executives couldn't care less unless it means better revenue.
Minpunten
Backblaze used to have a genuinely positive culture and cared about its employees. That changed as soon as they decided to move up market. Now, the focus is 100% on pleasing shareholders, and employees are just an afterthought. Teams are completely disconnected and siloed, with zero cohesion across departments. Communication is poor and there’s no sense of unity or shared mission. Some managers (definitely not all) set unrealistic expectations but do nothing to set their teams up for success. It feels like you’re set up to fail just so they can blame someone. Despite the executives boasting about positive revenue, it’s obvious that comes at the direct expense of their employees. There have been budget cut after budget cut, with no real support for those left behind. The culture that made Backblaze special is completely gone. Would not recommend to anyone who values a supportive, employee-focused workplace.
