Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Ballistic Arts. It's important for us to know what areas we're doing well in and what areas we can improve on. Your comment that our teammates are excellent people to work with is something we take pride in, because to us culture is the most important part of our organization. I’m sorry your experience with us was not great. We want all of our team members to enjoy their time with us. I know this message will not make up for your experience though if you like, you can see our blog post that talks about some of the areas we’ve made improvements on: https://ballisticarts.com/feedback-is-a-gift/
I would like, however, to respond with a few points in your review.
"One needs to provide their own equipment. If one asks for equipment, like a Wacom tablet, a lamp, or anything ergonomic, they'll usually get turned down."
We ensure our team has the best equipment to do their jobs and fulfill all requests for equipment, and always have. We want to ensure that our staff are comfortable when working. During Covid-19, we have taken precautionary measures to make sure we get all necessary equipment to staff that is needed in a safe and expedient manner.
We take health and safety very seriously. We invited a local ergonomist to come educate us a few years ago, and after that seminar everyone that wanted a new chair got a new one.
“The company will, however, offer to send you to a Landmark Forum. For the record, a Landmark course is in the thousands.”
We have offered the Landmark Forum course twice as a free company wide course in 2015/16. This course is under $1k, not thousands of dollars, and we believe that it can be of great benefit professionally and personally. However, any learning opportunities must have mutual buy-in and it’s only one aspect of developing oneself professionally. Our staff have also been provided the opportunity to take digital marketing courses at BrainStation, ScrumMaster courses, Project Management courses, website design courses, UBC content writing courses, been offered professional one-to-one coaching, and BCIT night classes. Employees can apply to have the company pay for any course they feel may benefit their career and the company.
I’m really sorry that your time at Ballistic Arts was not a positive one. While I don’t know who you are, you have my personal cell phone. I welcome you to call or text me anytime. I would really love to hear from you directly about your concerns, and share with you the positive changes we have been implementing.
Ted Lau, CEO
