Pluspunten

You will work with some of the smartest people you'll ever meet. The base and mid level employees are what drive this company, I was amazed every day at how amazing some of these people were. The 401K plan is great although the benefits overall were getting worse. Food trucks almost every day. Halloween is fun for the departments that have time to take a week off to decorate their offices. I have never been recruited more than when my LinkedIn said I was working for Overstock.

Minpunten

To start, I really hate bashing a company I used to work for. However... The rest of the negative reviews are spot on. Incompetent management is the worst part of this job. Directors and managers rotate in and out all the time because they 1. Are awful at their jobs 2. Hired prematurely 3. Don't meet ridiculous expectations set by execs. Pay isn't good. At all. They know people will work there anyway because it looks decent on a resume. Unfortunately, it's because other companies know how hard you'll work. The bonus structure is frustrating. You always see little changes around the office that you know was taken directly out of your bonus pool... 1% bonus and 0 or 1% raises every year when you bring in millions is incredibly frustrating. The hours. I have never worked longer hours in my life. And it was absolutely expected. Most of the year an 830 or 9-5 or 6 schedule is relatively normal, but during October - January or any holiday... forget you have a family or friends. I got to work at 8 and if I got home before 830 pm, it was a miracle. I worked almost every single weekend during these times as well. The reasons you'll work late are very frustrating. You'll have direction from your manager that is changed 1000 times by different executive at the last second. Every day. Awful communication from the top. And here's the big one that seems to be the ongoing topic... the president. Stormy is hilariously unqualified to do any of the things she does. She has absolutely no strategy and will literally fire people for child-like reasons. She also doesn't have a problem belittling employees in front of the entire department. She'll hold an hour long meeting and keep you there for 2 hours when you have important work to do. I could get over the incompetency if she didn't treat people so badly, including acting like every customer is another number on her paycheck. Her idea of "innovation" is obscure and she will blow up if you don't somehow interpret it. My team was berated one day for not coming up with a sale based around the pearl harbor day. Her recommendations were a "Drop the Bomb" sale or a sale on pearls. I'm not even kidding. This shows why no one has faith that she can lead a department to success. Last but not least, she has a weird and creepy relationship with several executives including the CEO. You have to see it to understand, but I've seen her hold hands with two executives during an entire meeting that was around an hour long... maybe it's just me, but it's creepy as hell. They're almost like her children. Creepy, creepy children. She's also played some tonsil hockey with the CEO in front of our company. I know we were doing a ground breaking on our new building, but how is that in any way appropriate? Also... that review on the 8th? Come on... one of MANY fake reviews. This isn't hearsay, i know people who were asking to write them. One of those people also quit for picking up a package for an executive that ended up being marijuana.

Pluspunten

Coworkers are my main reason for coming back daily, I'd hate to let them down.

Minpunten

Toxic ceo is more focused on being confrontational than productive. The consensus in his town hall meetings is to 'keep your head down, avoid direct eye contact, do not ask questions'. He's focusing on building the upper management team while regular layoffs of people who actually do the heavy lifting is reducing our actual output.
