Pluspunten

The dysfunction of this company has endless entertainment value. The comedic material is *almost* enough to justify working at this hell hole. Other benefits include experience working with severe psychological disorders - delusion, narcissism, bipolar and sociopathy - and learning what it looks like when an organization has completely and unequivocally given up. *Hint* It's when half the organization is clinging to their ping-pong paddles and the other half is knifing anyone they can to defend a position they could never get outside of Overstock's four crumbling walls.

The vast failures of the organization are only rivaled by the management teams' failures as a human beings. Picture the mangled offspring of King Geoffrey (GoT) and Sarah Palin, and you'll get an image of what it is like to work under the President - "Princess Stormy." Half fascist, half imbecile, Princess S. represents the worst combination of attributes you could find in one personality. Trying to characterize her as a defender of diversity, as an excuse for her other failures, is not only inadequate- it's a lie. She fired the only two gay people I knew when I worked there, and her bizarre relationship with the CEO is a betrayal to women in leadership everywhere. Women who have worked hard to earn their leadership roles aren't helped or inspired by this pathetic "flirt / sleep / blackmail your way to the top" story. But those flaws don't matter, what matters is the irreversible damage done to the company and the livelihood of 1,500 families. O.co's share price has tanked 60%. Personally wiping out $400 million of value in a single year is astounding. You can't deny her influence. Her tactics are so despicable and unethical, it has collapsed the morale of the company leading to the exodus of 1 Co-President, 3 SVPs, 4 VPs, 18 Directors and 120+ rank and file people. All those people are the problem? She brags: "I'm polarizing!" - but it is akin to N. Korea's love for the Dear Leader. Are those cheers from supporters or subjects? When Princess S. and her equally deplorable minions aren't publicly humiliating you, your boss or your peers, they busy themselves with well thought-out decisions like: cheating Google's SEO algorithms and getting crushed for it, burning millions on marketing partnerships with has-beens, distracting mgt with ebola crisis preparation, or my personal favorite, interrupting a stand-up so Princess S. can ask: "What is a .jpg?" Quitting here was like trying to exit Islam in Afghanistan. You are either in, or in exile. Expect to defend yourself against character assassination attempts after you quit. Or better yet, don't even consider working there. O.co has long past the point of irrelevancy and is hurtling toward an ironic, ugly firesale. If the company survives, its local reputation is so bad and there are so many Overstockers shopping resumes elsewhere, putting it on your CV will only hurt you.

Toxic ceo is more focused on being confrontational than productive. The consensus in his town hall meetings is to 'keep your head down, avoid direct eye contact, do not ask questions'. He's focusing on building the upper management team while regular layoffs of people who actually do the heavy lifting is reducing our actual output.
