Pluspunten

Amazing opportunity to learn from former McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc. consultants - many of whom also have significant executive experience (e.g., SVP, C-Suite) I have only traveled when it was really needed (e.g., to interview clients in person), which has come to about 10 - 20% overall. This is *not* the Mon - Thu every single week travel schedule you see at other consulting companies Working from home is great for me Great constructive feedback culture combined with structured expectations framework take the guesswork out of what you need to do to excel at your current position, or make it to the next one Everyone is encouraged and expected to fully contribute and push back as needed - while egos and titles may rule at other firms, facts and logic rule at Blue Ridge. Anyone can "crack the case" here, regardless of title, experience, or tenure Emphasis on ethics and doing the right thing for our clients makes me proud to work here - and keeps the work coming, based on our great reputation Huge variety of industries always keeps things interesting Focus on revenue growth definitely feels better than cost-cutting work Explosive growth provides great opportunities for advancement Despite this explosive growth, management has kept the standards for hiring very high and won't let those standards lapse just to get more "arms and legs". We would rather turn away business than hire people who do not meet our standards

Minpunten

Still a small firm, which means infrastructure and benefits can be more limited than one might be used to at, say, Fortune 500 companies. But they're not bad If you don't like direct feedback, this company is not for you (but if you view direct feedback as a great opportunity for improvement, then you've found the right place!) Hours can be long sometimes, especially due diligence projects. You are expected to put in a minimum of 10 hours per weekday (50 hours/week). I usually stick to right about that number, but have heard some go over that number regularly. Still, this seems like similar or even fewer hours overall compared to other consulting firms, especially when the lower travel is taken into consideration

Pluspunten

* Peers / leaders with top-tier (MBB) consulting AND line management backgrounds, which makes a huge difference to our clients and our consultants' learning opportunities * Outstanding reputation in the Private Equity world. If you're thinking about going into PE via consulting, you'll want to bang on this door * Minimal travel, much better work-life balance than most other consulting firms (although this is still high-end consulting, not 9-5!) * Leadership who truly cares about developing the people; we are a family, and we stick together in good times and bad (e.g., no layoffs when Covid hit the business hard) * Best feedback culture I've ever seen (including three Fortune 500 firms) - highly structured, clear set of expectations, culture of regular feedback. If you want to grow, this is the place to do it * It is extremely unlikely you'll be the smartest person here - you will learn a LOT

Minpunten

* Typical small firm disadvantages - pricier health insurance, we don't have the fancy intranet sites of a Fortune 500, less name recognition (outside of Private Equity) than the "big guys" (although within PE, we've very well known) * We all work from home (when not in 2x/year firm meetings or at client sites - again, travel is minimum), which some people don't like as much, as we don't see each other in person as they might like

Pluspunten

1. The integrity, capabilities, and competence of the key leaders is world class 2. The culture, drive, and commitment of the entire firm is top notch; even though it isn't a partnership, it truly feels like one; BRP is a meritocracy 3. The work, generally, is very interesting, important, and high impact 4. There are excellent career options to advance at BRP, or "graduate" into great PE and/or operating roles 5. Blue Ridge Partners is a great firm to be an alumnus of

Minpunten

Based on the nature of the work and clients, the work load can be intense sometimes; there are ways to balance and manage, and you learn to do this over time and with good team problem solving, communication, and leadership
