This is a great job if you're looking for a stepping stone to leave the retail space. You get experience in client outreach, customer experience, and relationship management, which are all transferrable skills to other industries that you wouldn't necessarily get at another retailer. Culture is great and some of the most dedicated people I have ever worked with have been employed at Bonobos. I can only speak from my experience, but the company genuinely cares about its people and always wants to do right by them, even if they end up frequently making wrong choices. Many people stay with the company for years on years; great for culture and consistency, terrible for advancement opportunities. The discount is also unmatched when compared to other retailers. Bonobos hasn't fully recovered from the pandemic, but their clothing quality is better off than many other comparable retailers.

If you're looking for a job with advancement opportunities, look elsewhere. The company has a rough track record of promoting internally with the majority of people staying in the roles they were hired in for years. Additionally, there's not a structured program to help you get promoted, just touchbases with fluid expectations about what you can do to improve. Bonobos likes to dangle opportunities of advancement in order to get your hired and perform well, but promotions are incredibly rare nationwide. It's not impossible, but you'll end up getting burned out and search for another opportunity before anything comes up. Although there have seen strides of improvement, the company is more reactive than proactive, leading to a lot of stress on AM's and GM's to perform basic store operations. The company was purchased by EXPR (Express) and so there's a high possibility of major changes over the next few years, so many of these reviews will be out of date very soon. Financially, the company doesn't appear to be performing well; Bonobos was sold to Walmart for $330 million only to be sold to EXPR for $80 million 6 years later. Many digitally native brands are expected to close their doors soon due to the economy and there's a strong possibility that Bonobos will restructure to a strictly online retailer. Not saying it's 100% going to happen, but the chance is higher than 0%.
