Pluspunten
Some really truly great Co-Workers! Great snacks (new snacks recently added)! Decent location in West Des Moines. The dress code is not strict.
Minpunten
I have never considered myself a disgruntled worker. I have listened over the years to my co-workers venting and I have played the devil's advocate to their frustration. I have offered a positive opinion and thoughtfully defended my employer. After all they sign our checks and allow us to keep a roof over our head and feed our family! Over the years I have slowly lost my eagerness to jump to my employers defense. I will explain some of the reasons why. As you have seen in many previous comments, we get a lot of "free" food. Well I don't really look at it as free food. When I was hired, I was told it was a benefit and perk. I earn this perk. The first couple of years that I worked for Businessolver, the meals were fun and exciting. My coworkers and I couldn't wait to see what was for lunch and appetizers. For the last 2-3 years, the majority of the meals and appetizers have been the same fare cycling through. Newbies that have been at the company for 2-3 months have been heard saying "do we only have these same 4 meals and apps". The answer is pretty much yes for the most part. Imagine how bored the people who have been at the company multiple years are with the "free food". When this is really part of your compensation, it is very disappointing when you either dislike something that is continually served or you are not able to eat something due to dietary restrictions. Regarding all of the posts that former or current employees have written about being overworked; some are probably completely correct and some may be over exaggerated. You will have those that do not stay focused during the day and then have tasks that are left at the end of the day. You will have those that have way too many clients and work their fingers to the bone, stay focused, beg for help and don't get it, you will also have those that have just the right amount of clients and just the right amount of workload and if they get overwhelmed they can ask their neighbor for help and they will get it. That is part of the problem at Businessolver; a huge amount of INCONSISTENCY, everywhere in the company! Every 6 months they change their business operating style. We would spend months writing processes and developing a plan of action for a business style. About the time we would have everything executed and starting to run smoothly, they would decide to have us change our process style again or the management style. It is not uncommon for someone in the organization to have 2-3 different reporting managers in a years time. It is constant chaos! (Not Creative Chaos like they try to convince you!) I could go on and on about how they overlook people who have been with the company for years and have worked so hard. The executives pick favorites and move those people up without knowing anything about their daily workday or interactions. They don't pay any attention to a persons business experience or hard work in the past or even now unless you are making a client happy. I have seen so many people move up in the company that cannot answer an email or phone call from a lower level employee; even an urgent one, unless it is coming from the right person that they want to impress! They know who to play up to and who they don't need to be concerned with and they move right up the ladder and there are so many of those people there. I am constantly shocked when hearing names of promoted people! Money- This one is really confusing. I was hired on at a decent wage for what I was doing I felt. I wasn't told that raises weren't given, but co-workers told me this was the case. I was promoted a couple of years after being hired and did get a small increase, but not equal to that of a promotional increase. Increases I have had since, have totaled about what I should have gotten for normal increases at any company, with about 5% a year, which is on the low side. This does not take into account that I have been promoted 5 times! I should really be at a much higher rate! If you are looking for somewhere to get your feet wet and learn, maybe this would not be a horrible place for you. Leave before you start to care and feel invested.
