Pluspunten
One of the standout aspects is the company culture. There's a strong sense of camaraderie across the business, whether you're based in the brewery, In one of the pubs or silently working behind the scenes. Everyone is passionate about what they do, and that enthusiasm creates a positive, inclusive environment where your contributions are genuinely valued and appreciated.
Leadership is approachable and transparent, with regular communication about the direction of the company and opportunities to provide feedback. It’s clear that employee input is taken seriously, and there's a collaborative feel to decision-making at every level. Open mic nights highlight this perfectly and a step in the direction of making everyone heard.
The company also invests in its people. There are opportunities for progression and training, especially within the hospitality side of the business. Whether you're just starting out or looking to move up, there's a clear pathway and support to help you grow. I can fully vouch for this approach that Butcombe have adopted, from coming through their own internal progression training schemes of an AM to GM course.
Working with high-quality, award-winning products is another major plus. There's a strong sense of pride in the Butcombe name, and that carries through everything from brewing to customer service. It’s exciting to be part of a brand that’s respected both locally and nationally.
The perks and benefits are well thought out – from staff discounts to team events – which adds to the overall job satisfaction too.
Minpunten
Frequency of Staff turnover could be seen as an issue. Some places and sites have churned out no end of new people and workers. Is this down to Butcombe or the people and management, I'm unsure but maybe more could be done to keep staff turnover down and the retention high.
