CDW may have a low barrier to entry for inexperienced individuals, but don't be fooled into thinking this translates into a genuine opportunity. While the company posts a large number of job listings, many of them are nothing more than "ghost jobs." During the latest round of layoffs, there were over 125 job postings on the careers site that were never going to be filled. New applicants should be wary of wasting time on these positions that exist only to make CDW appear as though they're expanding when, in fact, they're not hiring. To add to the dishonesty, CDW heavily promotes its Glassdoor reviews, but this only raises questions about their authenticity. The overwhelmingly positive reviews often mirror the language of AI-generated content, leading to serious doubts about whether they are genuine. It's possible that these reviews are part of a strategic attempt to paint a misleading picture for prospective employees. When it comes to leadership, particularly within Senior Sales Management and at the Director level, it’s clear that many of these individuals are grossly underqualified for their roles. It’s not just a matter of incompetence; nepotism is ever present, meaning the truly deserving employees often get overlooked in favor of those with personal connections. Given that CDW is attempting to transition to a services sales model, one has to question whether the leadership team possesses the vision or capability to drive this change. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are another troubling aspect of the company. Rather than fostering an inclusive meritocracy, these programs seem to be designed to elevate individuals who are easily controlled and unlikely to challenge senior management. This raises serious concerns about the authenticity of the company’s DEI efforts and whether they are truly about creating equal opportunities or simply a tool to maintain the status quo. Furthermore, there’s a growing concern about age discrimination at CDW. Over time, there has been a gradual removal of older employees from the company, which raises questions about whether this is part of a broader strategy to cull more experienced staff in favor of younger, more easily manipulated workers. The company also suffers from a lack of investment in back-line support. Employees often find themselves shouldering responsibilities that would traditionally be handled by the Customer Relations or Accounts Receivable teams. This adds unnecessary strain on workers and significantly impacts job satisfaction. While some employees may have had positive experiences, it's important to approach CDW with realistic expectations. If you don’t see clear progress and a positive trajectory within the company early on, it’s better to consider your options elsewhere. CDW’s internal culture, management practices, and questionable leadership make it an environment that may ultimately hold you back rather than propel you forward.
