      With nearly three decades of experience in K-12 education, both in Canada and with Canadian education in international contexts, I am thrilled to be working with the CINEC Group. This is an organization that invests in people and their potential, and prioritizes education over business concerns.

      Minpunten

      The only con is not about the organization itself, but in my own circumstances. Given the nature of my role and my geographical location, I spend a lot of time communicating and interacting with the schools remotely, which is far less preferable to me that more face to face engagement.

      Pay to hours ratio in the standard ESL positions was among the best in the industry might be changing though Great relationships with several prestigious Chinese schools Very smooth visa process Given plenty of independence, no micro-managing

      Minpunten

      Company struggles with a recruiting, some new hires are great, some are horrible Bad new hires, haved ruined relationships with several schools and resulting in the programs being downsized and/or struggling to recruit students Priority for promotions/retention given to those with the company the longest, regardless of other considerations Textbook used for the program needs polishing

      Dear Instructor, Thank you for your honest review of working with CINEC. We would just like to clarify that from your posting it appears that you were an employee of CINEC’s now defunct Canadian Standard English (CSE) ESL program, and not an employee at one of our BC offshore schools which are still operating and doing very well. If we ever revive the CSE program, we will certainly review the textbook and consider your feedback on teacher hiring and promotions. Wishing you the best wherever you are now!       Can't think of any pros.

      The office culture is extremely toxic. Micro-management oriented. Many promises, but none kept. Very high turn over rate and unprofessional behavior in the field. Don't waste your time!!!

We would like to clarify though that the issues that you faced no longer exist, and also that your experience working for the head office in Vancouver in no way reflects the experience of teachers working at our BC offshore schools overseas outside of Canada. We are proud of the excellent teachers and administrators we have attracted and nurtured over the years, and also of maintaining a high teacher retention rate in our offshore schools, even throughout the difficulties associated with covid-19.
