This has been one of the most challenging work experiences I’ve ever endured. I was initially drawn to the company by the promise of a potential acquisition, which was expected to result in a substantial payout. However, instead of an acquisition, a private equity firm became the majority owner, and the acquisition never materialized.
Following the takeover, the program tied to that potential payout was discontinued, leaving little incentive to remain at Campfire. The health insurance offered was both expensive and subpar. The 401(k) plan lacked any employer match, making it an unattractive investment option, and there was no bonus structure in place.
Flexibility within the company was severely limited, with little allowance for personal availability. There was an ongoing expectation to ALWAYS be accessible, which became exhausting—especially given that the team was intentionally understaffed. At this point, I’m unsure what could improve the situation. The turnover rate remains high, largely due to the relentless pressure to perform.
