Leadership just reacts with no forethought about long term. They spend as little money as possible now accumulating risk and not realizing that long term their short sighted decisions are going to cost them money, get someone hurt or have environmental impacts. I have seen the following things working for this company done in the open shamelessly: -Pretending to clean up spills -Falsifying regulatory reporting -Violating pressure vessel regulations and being dishonest with regulators -Heavily suggesting workers to do unsafe work but claiming they care about safety and they didn’t force anyone to do anything unsafe. -Harassment of workers by ineffective managers who expect employees to violate the laws and all the company standards so they can “get things done” -Violating the letter or at the very least the intent of the law around safe isolation of equipment. -Engineers signing off on completely unsafe things or unachievable mitigations. Everyone is scared of their boss as of they are going to get fired for standing up for what is right and aligns with the mission statement. Those who hold to the standards will never be promoted and are treated “less than”. This company is going to have a serious wreck where employees, the public, or the environment has serious repercussions. Everything they do is smoke and mirrors. They have all the documentation in place so they can falsify paperwork to pretend they did things right after the fact. I have never seen such a clueless bunch of “leaders” who are incapable of thinking through a problem safely, effectively and in a cost effective manner. They think they run a good business because they have been lucky. Employees at the front line are always scrambling to save them from their poor decisions. There is always a sense of needing to look busy even if its not productive work. Just make everything look okay. Leadership will always find something to criticize you for no matter how good you try to do. When they finally have an incident everyone in leadership at this company should be criminally charged. There is a known culture of violating all the laws and internal policies to save money and get things done. If senior leadership claims they were unaware, then they truly should not be in those roles. If they are aware, then I would question their integrity.
