I have waited most of my career to be as trusted, respected, and appreciated as I am at ChatID. This company is doing it right. They are scaling the employees and growth appropriately (no lopsided departments). Collaboration is at 110% across all teams. They make extra efforts to keep company culture strong while placing importance on employee health, appreciation and sanity. Every day is exciting for me. I enjoy my co-workers and the fact that I can go to the C-Level with ideas is awesome. The sky is the limit with this team. I take pride in the fact that I am an important contributor in something really great. When a company/product makes you feel that way as an employee its a big deal.

I knew what I was getting into. Typical start-up growing pains are there. But if you are not able to manage those, then you should be working at a big-box corp where you slowly die in a cubicle made of TPS reports.

When I first started at ChatID, it was the best job I'd ever had. Each and every employee was bright, talented, and driven to do great work every day. It was an incredible place to be at, and the energy was amazing. Gradually, things began to change. Pillars of the company began to leave, or were just suddenly gone one day. A large sales team was built up to prepare for the explosive growth that was always just around the corner, and then most of them were soon laid off so that the company could "right size." Big influential companies grew dissatisfied with the product and churned, and were replaced with tiny companies and tinier chat volume. More and more people left or were laid off, and they were never replaced. Big plans were made and then forgotten about.

ChatID is a shell of what it once was. Recently about half of the staff was laid off in one big "red wedding" style purge. The excitement and energy that used to be pervasive is now, I'm told, replaced with a mix of weariness and dread. There are no more engineers left at this tech company, unless you count the cofounders. They once employed over 50 people, now it's under 20.
