Doing this without prior warning or discussions shows a complete lack of respect for current employees. Its like they don't care about people who have to make childcare or travel arrangements. Surely the sensible thing to do is to reduce the number of office days for everyone instead of making everyone upend their lives again - as an engineer, it feels like most of my time is spent either migrating between different tools/tech stacks, depending on the whims of senior leadership or trying to detangle the spaghetti like dependencies between different teams in order to implement the most simple features. If you want to work somewhere where you can grow your skills as an engineer, look elsewhere.
