As far as IT/Software engineering goes, Chevron's efforts are about 70% modernization and supporting vendor applications. This can be very low level technical work for folks who want to focus on developing technical skills. If you're lucky and land in the 20% of the company that's doing innovative work is really fun! Also, be prepared to work on a team with almost all contractors from around the world it's good and bad where sometimes if just feels like you're managing projects/people rather than doing the technical work yourself.
