Pluspunten
To be honest, the only real positive to working for this company was the money... I stress the word WAS because as legacy employees leave all of the new-hires are on an annual contract basis or replaced with an expat. So in reality - there are no real positives for this review, save one. I came to the realization that money is not everything and left... Sooo there's that.
Minpunten
Where to begin.... 1) Obviously this is a Chinese company, so with that comes all the lovely cultural elements such as the expectation of blind obedience... 2) Zero to minimal advancement for non-Chinese employees. And that said, only those Canadians with weak-will and sub-standard ability will see a promotion due to glorious, ever-sought-after, non-challenging incompetence. 3) Absolutely no idea of how to use people to potential, and frankly they aren't interested in this. Their only interest is developing ways to maximize flow of money to the parent (state-run PC). 4) Absolutely no career development entertained, offered, or provided. 5) Incompetence abounds in the leadership roles as Canadians flounder to appease the meaningless requests of the Chinese leadership due to their lack of trust in anyone, other than their own race. 6) Continuous lack of support to achieve anything meaningful... Most everything is done for appearances, which is likely due to the cultural element of a state-owned enterprise. 7) Any opinions or suggestions that may fall within your own department or discipline are taken as dissent which will inevitably create a target. 8) All Chinese management operate with a supremacy and "plausible deniability". If a project or a task is not successful, blame will surely fall to a Canadian born employee... This is but one person's experience...
