Pluspunten
nice campus though it is far from anything in the middle of Long Island suburbs , relaxed, very slow paced
Minpunten
Pay is extremely low in a high-cost area. Does all of their funding go to paying for a waterfront campus instead of to paying employees? My salary was $55k which is less than half of salary of new-grads with a CS degree. Other people in the lab complained about diversity issues, so this might also be an issue to keep in mind. There is no management. My manager would take weeks to respond to emails and not show up to weekly meetings with no explanation. She emphasized that I could ask her any questions but then didn't respond to them for weeks. I had to ask people repeatedly for work and even had to ask what I was supposed to do on the first day. If I didn't, I wouldn't be surprised if they completely forgot that they hired me. After I emailed in my two weeks notice about quitting, my manager didn't read my email for more than a week and responded with surprise many days later. After my last day, I realized I wasn't even taken off the pay roll and none my access was removed, and I had to tell HR to do it myself which I have never had to do before at any other job. Then a long time after, the professor of the lab emailed me about returning the laptop and was passive aggressive about my short notice about quitting even though I gave two weeks notice, but this is probably because my manager didn't read my email for a week and then probably didn't even tell the professor of the lab that I was leaving even though she said that she would. I am glad that I left because I felt like there is no opportunities for growth and also not many learning opportunities since they are lax about giving any work or responding to any communication or doing the bare minimum. In COVID times, if you don't respond to emails for weeks from a new hire, what exactly is a new hire supposed to do?
