Pluspunten

The benefits are incredible and best I've ever been offered. 100% paid for health insurance, even for a family.

Minpunten

Compass laid off over half of the IT Department in "restructuring". This IT department was hands down the best I have ever worked for in my career. Compass continued to exhibit a pattern of treating their employees like second class citizens throughout 2020. People chosen to remain in IT was completely random or chosen by favoritism, either way not a good way to choose. The rest were moved to a new role called Agent Experience Manager or laid off. The Agent Experience Manager position was a combination of 3 different positions that the company had previously. They went from specialization expertise to the Swiss army knife approach. The company cut 15-20% of the workforce due to Covid-19, then cut the remaining employees salaries by 20%, unless you happen to be lucky and be an engineer. The CEO can be seen on the news saying that business is back to pre Covid-19 levels, yet the pay cuts remain in effect. 12 months ago I would have told you that Compass was the best place I've ever worked, but the cuts, management changes, company restructuring and Covid-19 implications have all changed the business tremendously.

Pluspunten

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Minpunten

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
