Pluspunten

You learn how to quickly put out fires until you realize it’s all stemming from one single wildfire-Compass itself.

Minpunten

No support for staff, agents get to walk all over them. For the staff, It’s a very toxic environment with everyone fighting to prove that they deserve to have a job. You work 24/7 even when furloughed (yes, you read that correctly) Managers will throw you under the bus in order to look good themselves (they are known for it) financially the company is a mess. Routinely they don’t pay their vendors until the massive bill is (Allegedly) sent to collections. Agents aren’t happy because the Compass tools suck. A thriving agent at Compass isn’t thriving because of Compass-they thrived before they were recruited because the agent can run a good business, not Compass. I’m very skeptical of all the recent reviews posted here that love Compass and give it a high score. If you look closer, it’s the same message repeated in different ways or it’s submitted by someone who has been with the company less than four months. It’s worth noting that you are asked to write a Glassdoor review for the company when you come onboard as new staff. This whole company is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Pluspunten

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Minpunten

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
