Pluspunten
-Opportunity to work on a lot of interesting projects if you want to get into the world of LA/California public affairs and a great chance to build up your network if you want to do something in the field. -A lot of smart and interesting people are hired, and a lot of Consensus alumni have gone on to do cool things with their careers. -Pay and benefits were solid. -It does well on the diversity and inclusions fronts.
Minpunten
-Management with the top two is awful. They micromanage badly, there are a lot of stories of verbal abuse, they make a lot of unreasonable requests, and they had a 0% approval rating in the office. -The bad management creates an extremely toxic work environment. Everyone is in fear and is on the hunt for new jobs. I guess there’s the benefit of the camaraderie created by everyone feeling like they’re in a shared struggle against management, but well, do you really want that? -Employee turnover is also obviously really bad. From 2020-21, it’s not an exaggeration to say that everyone other than the top two was either fired or moved onto better jobs. -The company gives off strong sinking ship vibes. There were few employees left when I decided to move on, and from the looks of it, that number has potentially dwindled to 0 as of summer 2021. -The office location is also weird for a public affairs firm. Burbank is out of the way from a lot of clients which are more centered in DTLA.
