Pluspunten
Plenty of overtime available, the individuals are great, and you feel satisfied with the role you play in the community helping people.
Minpunten
High turnover rate, some houses are EXTREMELY difficult to staff because of location and because direct support is a hard field to staff, they market that you can make $12-$14 an hour and almost anyone I know makes less than $13. Most people being around $12.50. You also don’t get PTO until after a year of working there. Poor communication. SLCs get disrespected so often that when you approach them sternly they feel attacked. People quit and get rehired often. In my experience some staff were very gossip oriented. Some workers felt like their job was just to be a body in a house, so they did below the bare minimum. The worst part is that you care and devote so much time to cover hours, get to appointments, do outings and you get poorly compensated (the whole field not just creative foundations, I’m only frustrated at the marketing of their pay rate) and not much appreciation. Some staff are soooo negative to the point that it makes you dread coming to work.
