The people who work here truly are wonderful, warm, and welcoming folks.

I was consistently misled and mistreated during my 6 months working at DEMDACO. They interviewed me under the promise of a full time role with benefits, then offered me a contractor role, to “test it out” and “see if I was a good fit.” (Isn’t that what my interview and portfolio are for…?) Management praised my work profusely, but also told me to keep their high praise secret from the rest of my team. I set up a meeting at the end of my contract to discuss the possibility of moving to full time work, fully expecting this to happen based on the conversations we’d had up to that point. At this point, they communicated that they still weren’t sure (4 months in) and that they’d like to extend the contract another 2 months. After the contract extension, we met again to discuss full time work. At this point, they informed me they no longer needed my services, and indicated it had been a seasonal contract. After discussing with other members of the team, I realized they had never had a full time position available. In retrospect, I recognized their tactics as emotional manipulation and deceptive practices. For a company that “does business the way it ought to be done,” this was deeply disappointing and personally devastating during a time when I desperately needed a job with benefits.
