It's honestly a great job. It's very busy and you do have to wear many hats as an event supervisor. The pay is great and you always get to see somewhere different. The kids make the days you work fly by and the parents are kind and some do take care of you over the weekend of a competition. It's an exciting find especially for people who want more videographer experience here in Buffalo! I worked 16 competitions in just my first year with the company and I got great opportunities to work in some great places and see friends and family while I was out in some places. I couldn't ask for a better job even though it's a go - go - go pace, it's still fun and you make the best of it. I enjoyed working for them and definitely plan on coming back for another season.

The only downsides are just you travel every week and sometimes it's mostly alone but it would be a bit better to travel with others. Some parents can have "moods" and they can try and take advantage of you out in the field.

It would be a pretty decent job if you can get a gig in your area. Depending on a job, you'll typically work with a sales rep and a videographer - in my experience they're nice people, but there's little time to socialize. A simple meal is provided when it's a longer day of shooting. Best part: you get to be amazed by dancing skills of the competitors at those events.

- You're on your feet a lot, so make sure your back can take it, especially if you need to work for more than 6 hours on a single day. - If you're a freelancer and don't work with DRC on a very regular basis, don't expect to get paid fast. The company headquarters are in Canada, so if you're in the US, your check may take a few weeks to be delivered and then your bank will need another 2 to 8 weeks to process it. Your bank may also need to charge a fee for processing a foreign check. Ask DRC if they can do a direct deposit instead. - Jobs are few and far between because they have a long list of photographers willing to work with them - don't assume it will become your regular gig.
