You will often be paged for things you can't fix or prevent, be expected to respond AND determine user impact within 10 minutes at any time day or night, and receive no additional remuneration (including TOIL). - Dependent on team, you may be stuck with very legacy and long out of support tech. - Bureaucratic, slow and messy processes. - You may need to obtain external licenses, a convoluted process that is not made clear before joining and not supported well by the business. - It can be a morally difficult industry.
