In a recent company meeting senior leadership said, "if you feel like you have to work weekends or evenings to get your work done, come talk to us. we'll reset expectations with the client. we don't want people burning themselves out". That was important to hear and very welcome.

Working remote and team siloing can make it hard to meet and get to know co-workers we're not directly working with. But this is much more COVID's fault more than DRL's, hard to have team building when the teams can't meet.

People are generally nice, good work-life balance, and senior management seems to care about their employees and their well-being. The work itself was pretty interesting, and I felt that I grew as a dev during my time there. Also getting to work directly with clients was pretty cool, and a bit rare as a dev.

The culture pre-covid was awesome, very much a work-hard/play-hard type place. That went completely down the tubes after COVID, and management doesn't seem to have any desire to bring it back. While working with clients can be fun, it can also be super tough and one client in particular was very rude to us. I also think they don't focus enough on behavioral interview during the recruitment process. While almost everyone I worked with was intelligent, there were some difficult personalities to deal with which made my job difficult sometimes. And finally, I get that it's a startup, but if you're looking to make good money look somewhere else. The devs shared salaries over lunch one day and none of us were getting paid all that well. And over the 2+ year time I was there, I got great reviews but never got a significant raise or a promotion.
