I would not recommend this organization for employees seeking strong management support, clear communication, or a healthy workplace culture. During my time there, priorities and expectations frequently shifted, often with inconsistent direction from different levels of leadership. This created confusion and made it difficult to execute work effectively. I also experienced a lack of structured onboarding, training, and regular feedback. Requests for clarification or support were often unanswered, which contributed to an environment that felt disorganized and high-pressure. In my experience, leadership styles at times came across as dismissive or overly critical, and concerns about workplace culture did not appear to be addressed in a meaningful way. Employees considering this organization should be prepared for a fast-paced environment with limited management support and frequently changing expectations.

Pluspunten

- Clear dedication to the mission - The leadership has a ton of experience in organizing and politics and actually cares about employees - Empower tries to make change by getting people to actually talk to each other rather than just spamming texts and emails - The engineers and the political folks at the organization collaborate a lot - The engineering team gets a ton done -- we don't have much bureaucracy, so most features take days or weeks rather than months.

Senior Management didn't do anything when it was discovered that users of their relational organizing app were being abused. A single user had set up 15+ fake accounts and was raking in money. This is just one of so many examples; organizers in other states also reported this kind of thing. Management cares about numbers and not results- poor stewards of donor money. No community building, 85% extractive. All staff meetings included senior management bragging, "We're killing it- we have reached out to more voters than the rest of the movement." Egos off the chain.
